Millers Mutual Donates $10,000 to the American Red Cross Greater Pennsylvania Region

Did you know 70% of people leave the kitchen as they are cooking something on the stove?! And every eight minutes, the American Red Cross responds to a disaster — the vast majority of them home fires. While each fire is different, they often leave families on curbs, sometimes without shoes or coats, watching their homes burn.

Now add the complexity of COVID-19. It’s making their response even more difficult. Just from the time of the March 2020 shutdown until September 11, 2020, the American Red Cross Greater Pennsylvania Region has helped 212 local families after a home fire with relief and recovery services, as well as, providing over $144,000 in emergency aid.

As a multifamily housing insurance provider, we are in the business of helping to put things back together after the unexpected occurs. Making a donation to the American Red Cross is a natural fit for us. We know our donation helps to make their mission possible— from providing relief and support to those in crisis, to helping people be prepared to respond in emergencies.

We may not be able to canvas the streets in the communities we serve and install smoke detectors in homes through the Sound the Alarm Event this year, but we can at least make a monetary donation of $10,000 to help alleviate the pain of those who experience a disaster.
