I want to start this year’s letter with a “Big Thanks” to our agents for the critical part you played in achieving our 2017 results: Combined Ratio 94.4%, Growth 8.9%, Surplus Growth 8.1%!
Our partnership with you has really grown over the past couple of years. In 2014-2015 you stood by us as we got the right people in the right roles, made significant changes and started building a strong foundation for the future.
In 2016 you gave us your ideas for where you wanted Millers to go and supported us as we positioned ourselves as a niche-focused company.
In 2017 we developed our 2018-2020 plan. It is very externally focused on you and becoming a leader in our niche, so together we can deliver the best possible customer experience. All of this will continue to be supported with underwriting and pricing discipline, financial stability and strength, along with robust analytics and decision-making that understands relationships count.
Also, in 2017 you helped us return our AM Best Outlook to Stable. We were selected as one of the 100 Best Places to Work in PA, and after 80 years we moved into a new home!
Our goals for 2018 include a Combined Ratio of 98.8% and a Premium Growth of 6.5%.
In 2018 and beyond we will continue to be a niche-focused company targeting multifamily/affordable housing and commercial real estate. You will be seeing additional product development from us and expansion into other property-focused areas.
