Excess liability
An additional layer of protection for liability claims
Today, every business faces the reality of a major lawsuit that has the potential to close its doors before a verdict is even reached. Commercial Umbrella coverage provides an additional layer of protection for liability claims that exceed the limits of your general liability and commercial auto.
For example, if you have a Businessowners Policy with a $1 million policy limit for general liability, and a covered claim is settled for $1.5 million, your Businessowners Policy will pay for the first $1 million of the claim and your Umbrella Policy will cover the additional $500,000 (less your deductible or self-insured retention, if any). Without Umbrella coverage, you are responsible for damages that exceed the limits of your primary policy.
Umbrella coverage is not a substitute for adequate insurance coverage on your primary policy, but it does provide affordable protection against catastrophic losses by picking up where your other policies end.
Millers Mutual offers Umbrella limits up to $10 million and premiums start as low as $400 for $1 million of coverage.
